SRU Parking

It is now April and the weather is some what nice yet on campus still drive to class which leaves commuters without a spot making us late for class. Why doesn't SRU fine on campus students for driving to class? I feel that if you live within half a mile of the campus you should not be allowed to drive. Commuters pay to drive and are not given first choice to a parking spot. Does anyone else feel the way i do?

  1. I agree that parking is extremely limited on campus and there are way too many spots for staff. Also I feel that they should at least try to expand and create new parking spaces for commuters. Because of parking sometimes I have to take the bus because I rather not wake up a extra half hour just to get a parking spot.

  2. i feel ya buddy. I commuted last year and it was rough finding a spot. I also feel that there is to much staff parking. Commuter parking is not adequate. It must be rough for you to see peoples cars that are living on campus. I feel your pain and something should be done here.

  3. I completely agree. I can not stand having to drive to class and there are no parking spots what so ever. I either have to leave a half an hour early from my appartment of have to walk to class from my appartment. It is not fair and I completely agree with everything you say. We pay for a commuter pass there should be enough parking for everyone and there is clearly not. This university needs to change the way they run alot of things then run. It is sooooooooo annoying!

  4. I agree i live right off campus and never drive. It is annoying that people are so lazy that they drive and take 15 minutes trying find a spot when they could walk in half the time. I have only driven on to campus once this semester and that was to the arc at night. I agree they should fine the lazy people.

  5. Students have come forward saying "leave it green", however, I'd totally agree with leaving it green if there were opened parking spots. I still have no clue as to why there are just as many faculty spots as students. I mean every day I go to the class and every lot is full unless youre driving at 8am or driving at 330 pm. Doesn't the University see that or they don't care as to the fact that they're making money off of the students that give up on the spots and park in faculty. Some people just have luck. It's just so frustrating when there are days when you get lucky and other days that you don't. When I called the parking office they told me to park near East Lake and ride the bus up. That's clear across on the other side of campus. I can say that a lot of students are lazy and just don't feel the need of walking when they have a car. At the same time though it is the student's fault when waiting for spots last minute. I know I'm one of them because I get lucky once and think the next time I'll get lucky again, and it ends up not being the case. Commuters should get first dibs or they should change faculty lots to more commuter lots. Good subject to touch on Mcgowan!

  6. I do not agree at all. It is first come first serve like most things in life. there should be more handicapped parking on campus. we are phys ed majors...park by east lake and walk! we are supposed to be ambassadors for this fitness revolution, sorry man!
